Filter orders: how to exclude orders by tag

Control which orders TrackBee sends to your ad platforms by excluding orders based on Shopify tags.

Written by Pico

Order tag filtering lets you control which orders TrackBee sends to your ad platforms. You can exclude orders based on the tags you already use in Shopify, so only the conversions that actually matter reach Meta, Google, TikTok, Pinterest, Klaviyo, and GA4.

Why use order tag filtering?

Not every order should count as a conversion. Sending the wrong orders gives ad algorithms bad data, which leads to worse bidding and wasted budget.

Here are a few common examples:

Subscription renewals — You want ad platforms to optimize for new subscribers, not recurring charges. Exclude the tag used for recurring subscription orders, and only the first purchase gets sent.

B2B orders — If you sell both B2C and B2B, you probably don't want B2B orders influencing your ad optimization.

Internal or test orders — Orders placed by your own team for testing shouldn't count as conversions.

Heavily discounted orders — If certain promotions attract low-value customers, you can exclude those tagged orders from your ad signals.

How to set it up

  1. Go to the Stores page in TrackBee

  2. Scroll down to the Filter orders section

  3. Under Exclude tags, click the dropdown

  4. Enter the Shopify order tag you want to exclude (e.g. Subscription Recurring Order)

  5. Press Enter to add the tag

  6. Repeat for any additional tags you want to exclude

That's it — TrackBee will stop sending orders with those tags to all your connected ad platforms.

To remove a tag, click the x next to it in the tag list.

Good to know

Applies to all platforms — Excluded tags filter orders across every connected platform (Meta, Google, TikTok, Pinterest, Klaviyo, GA4). This is a store-level setting, not per-platform.

Still counted in TrackBee statistics — Filtered orders are excluded from your ad platforms, but they're still included in your TrackBee dashboard stats. Your internal reporting stays complete.

Only affects new orders — Tag filtering applies to orders processed after you save the setting. It doesn't retroactively remove previously sent orders.

Works alongside POS filtering — The Exclude POS orders toggle is a separate setting. You can use both at the same time.

Tags must match exactly — Make sure the tag you enter matches the exact tag in Shopify, including spacing and capitalization.

Where to find your Shopify order tags

Not sure which tags your orders have? In Shopify:

  1. Go to Orders

  2. Click on any order

  3. Look for the Tags section on the order detail page

Use the exact tag name when adding it to TrackBee.
