Setting up "Advertises on URLs" for Google Ads

How to configure the Advertises on URLs field so TrackBee sends every conversion to the right Google Ads account.

Written by Julia

If you run multiple Google Ads accounts for the same store, for example one for the Netherlands and one for Germany, TrackBee needs to know which account each conversion belongs to. The Advertises on URLs field, tells us exactly that. This is found under the Shopify Markets setting of your Google Ads integration.

This guide explains what the field does, how to fill it in, and what to watch out for.

How it works

When someone clicks one of your ads, Google adds a click ID (gclid) to the URL they land on. TrackBee matches that landing URL against the URLs you filled in for each ad account, and sends the conversion to the account it belongs to.

For example, say you have two ad accounts set up like this:

  • Dutch ad account: www.trackbee.io/nl, www.trackbee.io/netherlands

  • German ad account: www.trackbee.io/de, www.trackbee.io/germany

A click landing on www.trackbee.io/germany/product/beer?gclid=... matches the German account's URLs, so that conversion goes to your German ad account. A click on www.trackbee.io/nl/product/beer?gclid=... goes to the Dutch one.

Step 1: List the URLs per ad account

  1. Go to your Google Ads integration settings in TrackBee and enable the Shopify Markets setting.

  2. For each Google Ads account, fill in the URLs you advertise on with that account.

  3. These can be paths on one domain (like www.trackbee.io/de) or separate domains (like trackbee.de). Both work.

  4. Save your settings.

Step 2: Check your coverage

Make sure every URL your ads can land on is covered by one of your accounts:

  • You don't need to list every product page. A prefix like www.trackbee.io/de covers everything under it.

  • If a landing page isn't covered by any account's URLs, we can't route its conversions to an ad account.

  • The same URL shouldn't appear under two different ad accounts, otherwise we can't tell which account the conversion belongs to.
