This guide shows you how to connect TrackBee to Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to enable server-side tracking for your store, walking you through the connection process in just a couple of simple steps.

Prerequisites

Before you begin setting up the integration, make sure you have the following ready:

  • Active Google Analytics 4 account

  • Admin access to your GA4 property

  • TrackBee account with store access

Step 1: Download the Google & YouTube App in Shopify

First, log in to your Shopify admin. Go to the Shopify App Store, search for “Google & YouTube”, and install the app. Once installed, open the app and sign in with your correct Google account.

Step 2: Create a Data Stream in Google Analytics 4

  1. Click the Admin icon (gear symbol) in the bottom left corner

  2. In the Property column, click Data Streams

  1. Click Add stream and select Web

  2. Enter your website URL and provide a descriptive stream name

  3. Click Create stream

Step 3: Copy Your Measurement ID

After creating your data stream, click on your stream which will open the web stream details.

  1. Under Stream Details, locate your Measurement ID.

  2. Copy the Measurement ID (format: G-XXXXXXXXXX)

  3. Keep this ID handy for the TrackBee setup

Step 4: Generate an API Secret

To enable server-side tracking, you need to create a Measurement Protocol API secret.

1. On the same stream details page, scroll down to Measurement Protocol API secrets

2. Click the arrow to expand this section

3. Click Create to generate a new API secret

4. Give your API secret a descriptive nickname (e.g., "TrackBee Integration")

5. Click Create

6. Copy the generated Secret value immediately (you won't be able to view it again).

Step 5: Connect TrackBee to Google Analytics 4

Now that you have both credentials, connect them in TrackBee:

  1. Log in to your TrackBee account

  2. Navigate to Your Stores

  3. Find the Google Analytics 4 integration option

  4. Click Connect

  5. Enter your Measurement ID (starts with G-)

  6. Enter your API Secret

  7. Save your settings

Verification

Once connected, TrackBee will begin sending server-side tracking data to Google Analytics 4. You can verify the connection by:

  • Checking the real-time reports in Google Analytics

  • Monitoring events in your GA4 property

  • Reviewing the connection status in TrackBee
