Introduction:

Utilizing UTM parameters is crucial for tracking the performance of your marketing campaigns in TrackBee. Here's a step-by-step guide to implementing UTM parameters on various advertising platforms.

Important Notice:
Without UTM Parameters, TrackBee's tracking will still be available at full capacity. However, it's important to note that these parameters are essential for the functionality of specific features, such as the real-time ad dashboard and profit calculator. The absence of UTM parameters means you will not be able to fully utilize these particular features, which rely on them for accurate data tracking and analysis.

How to Implement UTM Parameters

UTM parameters help in tracking the source of your web traffic with precision. Below are the steps to add UTM parameters for each advertising platform:

Meta (Facebook and Instagram)

  1. Create or Edit an Ad Campaign: In Meta Ad Manager, start a new campaign.

  2. Navigate to Ad Level: Set your URL parameters at the ad level.

  3. Set URL Parameters: Scroll all the way down. Go to "URL parameters" under "tracking" at the ad level.

  4. Input Tracking Parameters: Add
    utm_campaign={{campaign.id}}&utm_ad_group={{adset.id}}&utm_ad={{ad.id}}&utm_source=meta

  5. Apply Changes: Click "Apply" to see the URL parameter in the field.

Important Notice:
Modifying the URL Parameters of your ads will place them into a 'processing' stage. This phase might last up to an hour, pausing your ad spend on Meta during this period. At times, altering the URL Parameters on a live ad has wiped the social proof and reverted the ad to the 'learning phase’.

TikTok

  1. Access Ad Level Settings: Start by going to the 'Ad Level' in TikTok's advertising platform.

  2. Create or Edit Campaign: Create a new campaign or continue with a draft.

  3. Update Destination Page URL: Scroll down to the destination page section.

  4. Add UTM Parameters: Paste
    ?utm_campaign=__CAMPAIGN_ID__&utm_ad_group=__AID__&utm_ad=__CID__&utm_source=tiktok
    behind the product URL.

  5. Save Settings: Finalize your changes by saving the settings.

Pinterest

  1. Go to Pinterest Business: Start creating a campaign.

  2. Edit Ad Details: Click on "Edit" in the campaign settings.

  3. Navigate to Destination Link: In the ad settings, find the 'Destination Link'.

  4. Input UTM Parameters: Add ?utm_campaign={campaignid}&utm_ad_group={adgroupid}&utm_ad={adid}&utm_source=pinterest behind the product URL.

  5. Publish and Save Edits: Finalize your ad by publishing and saving the edits.

Google Ads

  1. Open Google Ads: Start by accessing your Google Ads account.

  2. Navigate to Tracking Settings: Go to “All Campaigns” > “Settings” > “Account Settings” > “Tracking”.

  3. Set Final URL Suffix: Paste
    utm_campaign={campaignid}&utm_ad_group={adgroupid}&utm_ad={creative}&utm_source=google
    into the “Final URL Suffix” field.

  4. Save Settings: Finalize your changes by saving the settings.
