Introduction

When setting up the Google Conversion Booster in TrackBee, you might encounter the error “Could not visit website”. This means that TrackBee is unable to access your website to verify the installation of necessary scripts or perform required checks. The most common reason for this error is that your website is protected by a password, preventing external access. This guide will help you understand why this error occurs and how to fix it.

What Does “Could not visit website” Mean?

This error indicates that:

• TrackBee cannot access your website.

• Your website is likely locked behind password protection, making it inaccessible to external services like TrackBee.

• As a result, TrackBee cannot verify the installation of the Conversion Booster script or perform necessary tracking functions.

Without access to your website, TrackBee cannot effectively collect data or assist in optimizing your advertising campaigns.

How to Resolve the Error

Since the only possible reason for this error is password protection on your website, you will need to disable it. If you’re using Shopify, follow these steps:

Steps to Remove Password Protection in Shopify

1. Log In to Your Shopify Admin

• Go to Shopify and log in to your store’s admin panel.

2. Navigate to Online Store Preferences

• In the left sidebar, click on “Online Store”.

• Under “Online Store”, select “Preferences”.

3. Disable Password Protection

• Scroll down to the “Password protection” section.

• Uncheck the box that says “Enable password”.

• This will remove the password protection from your storefront, making it accessible to visitors and external services like TrackBee.

4. Save Your Changes

• Click the “Save” button at the bottom or top right corner of the page to apply the changes.

5. Verify Website Accessibility

• Open a new incognito or private browsing window.

• Navigate to your website’s URL to ensure it is accessible without a password.

6. Verify in TrackBee

• Return to your TrackBee account.

• Navigate to the Google Conversion Booster setup.

• Click on “Check Setup” to confirm that the error has been resolved.
