What Does the New vs Returning Feature Do?

When enabled, this feature creates two custom purchase events in Meta Ads Manager:

NewCustomerPurchase: Tracks purchases made by customers who are buying from your business for the first time.

ReturningCustomerPurchase: Tracks purchases made by customers who have previously interacted with or bought from your business.

These custom events provide visibility into how much revenue is being driven by new customers versus returning customers, allowing you to refine your advertising strategies.

How to Set Up the New vs Returning Feature

1. Log in to TrackBee

Ensure you’re logged into your TrackBee account.

2. Navigate to the Stores Page

• From your dashboard, go to the stores page.

• Select the store you want to enable the feature for.

3. Find the Meta Integration Section

• Scroll down to the Meta section on the store settings page.

4. Enable the New vs Returning Feature

• Locate the Track New / Returning Customers toggle.

• Click the toggle to activate the feature for that store.

5. Verify Event Setup in Meta Ads Manager

• Go to Events Manager in your Meta Ads account.

• Confirm that the new custom events (NewCustomerPurchase and ReturningCustomerPurchase) are visible.

Please note that these events may not appear immediately. They will only be triggered and sent after a purchase occurs, so ensure you’ve received a purchase event before checking for their presence.

Displaying New vs Returning purchases on Campaign overview in Meta.

To display these new custom actions in your campaign overview in Meta Ads Manager:

1. Navigate to the Campaign Overview section.

2. Click on “Change Table Columns and Metrics”, then select “Customize Columns”.

3. Go to the “Custom events” tab and check the boxes for NewCustomerPurchase and ReturningCustomerPurchase.

4. Arrange them in your desired position. We recommend placing them next to Results for easy comparison.

5. Click Apply to save the new layout.

Please note that these events may not appear immediately. They will only be triggered and sent after a campaign has used the custom events. Set-up a new campaign focused on these events and the metric will become available.
