This means that some of your conversion actions in Google Ads are assigned incorrect categories—for example, page views marked as add-to-carts. Correct categorization is essential for accurate tracking and optimization of your ad campaigns. This guide will help you understand why this error occurs and how to fix it.

What Does “Conversion actions have wrong categories” Mean?

In Google Ads, each conversion action is assigned a category that describes the type of user interaction it represents, such as “Purchase”, “Add to cart”, “Page view”, etc. The error indicates that:

• Some conversion actions are assigned incorrect categories.

• For example, a conversion action that tracks page views is incorrectly categorized as an “Add to cart”.

Incorrect categories can lead to misleading data and affect your campaign optimization, as Google Ads may misinterpret which user actions are most valuable to your business.

How to Resolve the Error

Follow these steps to update the categories of your conversion actions in Google Ads:

1. Sign In to Google Ads: Go to Google Ads and log in.

2. Navigate to Goals > Summary: Click the goals icon in the left bar, then click the conversions drop down and select the Summary.

3. Review Your Conversion Actions:

• You will see a list of all your conversion actions.

• Identify the conversion actions with incorrect categories.

4. Edit the Conversion Action Categories:

• Click on the name of the conversion action you want to update.

• Click Edit settings.

• Find the “Category” field.

If you’re unsure about the correct categories or prefer an automated fix, you can reconnect your Google Ads account through TrackBee:

• Go to your store settings.

• Disconnect the current Google Ads connection.

• Click on “Add Connection” to reconnect.

• Follow the prompts to reconnect your Google Ads account.

• TrackBee will automatically update the conversion action categories for you.

8. Verify in TrackBee:

• Return to your TrackBee account.

• Navigate to the Google Conversion Booster setup.

• Click “Check Setup” to confirm that the error has been resolved.

By updating your conversion actions with the correct categories, you enhance tracking accuracy and improve campaign performance within TrackBee.
